Eh, strictly speaking, all fruits you eat are manmade fruits, and Citrus genetics is a bit of a tangled mangrove thicket, anyways. Any Citrus you get at the grocery store or farmers market has a degree of hybridization (and that’s Citrus with a capital C, not citrus meaning all Rutaceae closely related to Citrus like kumquats). Grapefruit was directly bred from wild pomelo varieties. Some of the grapefruits you consume have orange varieties in their recent genetic history, but grapefruit isn’t strictly a “cross” between an orange and a pomelo. Anyway, I can tell your eyes glazed over back when I specified Citrus vs citrus. I’ll stop pontificating on fruit now.
